Absolutely amazing lunch. We ordered the original Viennese schnitzel with pasta and French fries. The taste was heaven on earth! The meat is soft and the outside is crunchy. The waiter was very friendly and cooked the schnitzel where we can see it. They presented the meat before they cooked them! They also refilled our fries and noodles especially seeing we almost finished them and we still had more meat! We also had dessert and for a simple coffee, it includes Toblerone and cream! They went out of their way to give us a great service! A typical Swiss hospitality. Don’t get discouraged with the other reviews complaining about the price. It is a normal price in Switzerland. Perhaps some students living in Basel that they find very good food expensive. Totally worth a visit especially bragging to your Basel visitors and experiencing Swiss hospitality!
VERY BAD FOOD QUALITY and if that is not enough they were NOT NICE at all. Rude owner and even more rude staff. We also heard people on the table next to ours complaining for the food quality. When you see this place just keep walking to the next one! BAD BAD BAD
Fabulous fondue. We arrived at 5pm not realising they weren’t serving till 6pm, but luckily our waiter was great, he brought us menus and took our order so we were fed as soon as possible. The fondue was stunning an absolute treat to eat
We wanted to try our the traditional Swiss fondue and so my wife after a lot of research said this was the restaurant to try it out. I loved it, it was little too “alcoholic” for my wife. But it was a bit pricey in my opinion.
The food is very tasteful and I can see it was a very old and traditional place. But the woman who serviced us was really in a bad mood I guess, we felt even scary to order and ask. All the other people there are really nice and friendly. We ordered 3 portions Fondue for 4 girls and 1 extra cheese plate. It is also pretty enough. The food is expensive but in a acceptable range, plus another bottle of water we spent 145 for 4 people.
The food was pretty good standard fare. The ambiance is really lovely and definitely matches the prices–even by Swiss standards it’s expensive. The server was rude and openly mocked us as we were taking some photos to share with my mother (she wants to know I’m eating well!), and, perhaps ironically, to share here.I’d stop by again to sit out front and enjoy a beer, but wouldn’t recommend it otherwise.
Average Rösti, mine is better, and a great but 56 franc Snitzel, NO, you just cannot do that, there is no reason to ask for that amount of money it’s absurd, ok it’s switserland etc, is that a reason ? but in the same street you can find the same dish at a third of the price, i have never paid more than 38 euros for a dish, and it was something actually very special ! like Wagyu with Truffels or something like that 🙂
