Tried the Chinese food and it was of mediocre standard. Ordered steamed fish with ginger, fried chicken with lemon sauce and wanton (baked ravioli). So the wanton turned out to be fried wanton and only the fried wanton is not bad. Fish still has the fishy taste while the lemon sauce is too overpowering and sour. Not sure if we are eating the chicken or the sauce actually. And we ordered tap water from the waitress. She kept asking if we wanted bottled water but we said no and asked for tap water. She said okay and brought us two cups. Then the bill came as a shock to us. They charged us CHF 3.70 per cup for the tap water! We asked for a refill once and we were charged 4 times of the amount. We have been to Switzerland multiple times and went to so many different restaurants asking for tap water and none of those restaurants charged us for tap water. Except for this restaurant. At least we felt that the waitress could have told us it was chargeable because what’s the difference between bottled and tap water then?? If you want Chinese food, this place is definitely not recommended.And to add on, we did ask the waitress about the charges of the tap water in the receipt. But her reply was that tap water is chargeable everywhere in Switzerland, which is totally untrue. We also told her that this was the first restaurant that charged us for tap water in Switzerland but she also did not attempt to waive off the charges for us. It was pointless to argue further.

Very pleasant stay. Well situated, very friendly and helpful, especially for athletes staying there for the Ironman with early breakfast. Price is expensive but the hotel is heqrt of downtown and worth the money. Parking close by, very comfortable beds and tea corner. City is beautiful

Great location but disappointed with the level of service I have received. Got here at 8:30am as that is the time I arrived in Thun. I asked for an early check in understanding that it was not guaranteed until 3pm. I asked every hour desperate to get in as I was not feeling well, at 3pm I was finally able to enter my room to find a ladder, drill and cords are outside my door with drilling & hammering going on. When I complained I was told I had to put up with it until 6pm or change rooms…if there was another room available why was I put in this one which looks like a construction site? And why wasn’t I checked into the alternate room sooner 2 floors down?I would suggest construction works to only take place between check out and check in or areas that have construction works to be unavailable to book.Never again

This place was really good, including the location, the breakfast and the room. The space of the room and the bathroom was 10/10.

The location could not be beat during Christmas time, with the square facing rooms having a direct view of the Christmas tree and shops. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the rooms well appointed/maintained. Breakfast and the restaurant were equally as impressive and we are sure that during the warmer months, the hotel’s terrace areas near the water would be even better.
