The service is good, the food is average, not worth the price they charge.Do not have the meringue for dessert! It is a complete overpriced fiasco.
Die Waid was one of my favorite restaurants until the General Manager screamed at me once. The manager was pushing me to order food but I just wanted to have a coffee. At some point, after having returned to me some couple of times, he screamed at me and said that either I ordered something else or I would go. NOTE: The restaurant was not full at all, and I was a recurring guest. This happened around 2 years ago, and I got so disappointed that I never returned to the restaurant.
Regular guest, but sadly won’t be back in a hurry. The restaurant has an amazing view. The food used to be excellent, the French fries were the best in Zurich. On the last visit, the Cordon Bleu literally tasted as if the ham was off. The chips were done in old oil, which we left. The waiters are arrogant, yet can’t get the bottle of wine to the table before the food… and for this one pays over CHF150?Enjoy the view, but eat elsewhere.
Came with our baby, got told in a very condescending way only spaces inside, despite the whole restaurant was empty. Was a regular and totally disappointed by this behavior!*update:yes we also got offered a high table outside, but with the baby it would not have been a nice experience (hint: going the extra mile for the customer..)We asked for a drink that would have taken literally 20 minutes, so I doubt that all the guests would have arrived at 18.30…
Open 9-23, parking, outdoor terrace, banquet rooms, classic Swiss cuisine. The waid is a very popular destination because of the phenomenal view from the slope of the “Beetle mountain” which can be combined with a forest walk. Always busy, reservation recommended.
Definitely come here to enjoy the view. There are two sides to this restaurant one with Asian wok food and the other typical Swiss food. Loads of people ordered the tartare around us. Wouldn’t recommend coming here if your vegetarian, on the regular menu there were only a few items without meat or Fisch. I had a bit of problem with my poor German and my server not speaking any English to help. I ended up ordering the daily vegetarian menu which I wouldn’t have gotten if I was able to read the menu properly, it was gnocchi drowned and swimming in a bowl of creamy sauce. The starter vegetable salad was delicious and I wished I could have had a large one of those instead. My daughter though absolutely loved her meal of nuggets and Pom Frits with Kinder syrup.
Delicious food with one of the best views over the city of Zurich. The staff is competent and friendly. The menues go from classic traditional Swiss meals (with a twist) over to seasonal combinations with local ingredients. There is a wide choice and none of it will disappoint. Also the drinks, deserts and appetizers are great. Tehe restaurant is on the higher price range but well worth a treat. Great location for a special occasion. One of the best spots in Zurich. Especially for dinner it gives a great view over the city with the lake and the mountains in the background. The sunset can be seen from the table and the lights of the city at night just give a charming ambiance. A must visit!
