We were difficult and noisy customers (14 people) but the service as IMPECCABLE! They always smiled and were super helpful! The food was delicious and fresh, desserts were to die for! Would totally go back and recommend it!!

It’s a very upscale Italian restaurant in Basel, beside the Rhine River. It’s pricy but the food, the service and the ambiance of the restaurant show the value. It will be my first pick for celebrating special occasions with friends and family!

Best Italien an in town, classy, like a grand house in Milano, Genova, Torino… All you love! Papardelle al ragu conghiale was delicious, a real ragú! The rombo with lemon and thyme really outstanding with the risotto al parmiggiono. Not to speak of the cheese and dessert wagon – a vintage element of delight , though the cheese was all Frenchy and not Italian – maybe the great cheese of France is just so close, 5 min by car 😉😂 So don’t hesitate and book this precious somehow old-fashion style gem that is like all gems worth the price😎😉

So , I had a beautifull experience in Chez Donati. Service was very good, but the food, man, the food is outside of this world. All ingredients are freshly cooked, by the taste you can see that Chef knows what he is doing. I had so many times pasta, but this is a proper native italian one.The best experience I had in Basel so far, simply marvelous. Chez Donati team, well done!

Chez Donati is a well known address in Basel – we had dinner on a Saturday night during Baselworld: the place was crowded and there was a limited menu due to the fair.First of all the staff was very friendly and kept smiling even though they were very busy and running around to please the guests..We arrived at the restaurant at 6.30pm and were waiting 1.5hrs for the starters to be served – which was definitely too long.The food was very nice but not super exciting – in my opinion overpriced to comparable Italian restaurants.. we asked the waiter 2 questions that he wanted to check on and get back to us but… he just never did – it was a bit awkward.Anyhow, we take it that it was all due to Baselworld, the place being fully booked and the staff being overwhelmed. I have heard from others that it usually is a different experience, so I will give it another try one day.

Very good food and wine… only inconvenient – too warm in the restaurant and as a consequence waiter sweating like hell due to rather stress moment serving his guests… but felt pity for him, not his fault, therefore still 5*
